A presentation of George A. Gratsos Ph.D., President of Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, at the Annual Seminar 2012 of NATOs Transport Group of Ocean Shipping held in Athens on May 23rd. The event was organized by the Athens Multinational Strategic Lift Coordination Centre (AMSCC).

The objectives of the 2012 Transport Group of Ocean Shipping Seminar were the following:

– encourage and enhance the participation of partner nations in the Transport Group of Ocean Shipping activities.

– enhance and strengthen the co-operation with the NATO Military Authorities by providing an opportunity for military transportation planners and civil shipping experts to examine and discuss current issues and topics of mutual interest.

– examine, assess and evaluate the adequacy of the Transport Group of Ocean Shipping plans and crisis management arrangements, including how shipping experts of the Transport Group can provide shipping support for the deployment planning/execution process.

– analyse ship availability and identify and examine measures and mechanisms that will enable to access the commercial shipping market efficiently.
